Ok, stop picking on Jonah!!

Since most of us understand that we have misunderstood many messages, missions, and moments of our lives, let's stop picking on Jonah!! Jonah is a great example of you and me; one simply needs to look closely at the heart of the matter to see the reflection!  Now, my story parallels Jonah's story almost exactly, and many moons from now we will get to that part of my testimony, but for the time being we must look at a broader parallel that reaches all of us!  When God's message conflicts with our willful, sinful nature, the waves begin to swell!  Let's look at the text of the prophet, Jonah,
"But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.  He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port.  After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.  Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up" (Jonah 1: 3-4, NIV).

Alrighty then, we can stop right at the beginning of verse three and confess!! "Confess what??" you ask.  Confess right now that you and me both run away from God's Sovereignty! In fact, some of you might be trying, not relying, right now to plan how your situation might turn out better if you designed the plan instead of God!!  But..But...you begin to argue...God gave me a head to figure and to decide what is best sometimes too right??? Wrong!! God gave you a mind to be transformed, a soul to be redeemed and a body with a heart to be surrendered!! Deuteronomy 6:4 reveals God's plan for our participation stipulation, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Again the text continues in verse 18-19 to reveal what we are to do before the Lord, "Do what is right and good in the Lord's sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land that the Lord promised on oath to your forefathers, thrusting out all your enemies before you, as the Lord said" ( Deuteronomy 6:4, 18-19, NIV).

Make no mistakes about your God!! He is the only God and He is one..and He has a plan..Roger that!! Now, for a few reality checks:
1.   It does not matter the perspective that you have on the matter at hand! God's perspective is 5 dimensional and yours isn't even in 2-D!!
2.   It does not matter how scary the problems are to you! God dealt with the devil in complete triumph, while nailed to a cross, I think it's safe to say your situation's safe in His hands tied behind His back.
3.   It does not matter that God seems to be asking you to go on a suicide mission! After all, this life is temporal, the life He offers us is eternal!
4.  It does not matter that saying, "yes" to God might mean icky sticky changes might have to take place.  Change is the whole point!!!!
5.  It does not matter that you are looking at a vast ocean that never ends and there is no life left in you to swim across! God parted the Red sea and He will make a way for you to get to the promised land!!

Never, no Never is there an excuse to look at your situation and determine that the only way out is  you! Friends, that's like saying, "Here mister whale, come and get me"!! The only way out is Jesus..His name is Jesus and He saves you from yourself!! The more you go your own way, the more you battle the waves! In the mean time, we could have the peace of Christ.  Surrender your situation to Him and allow Him to lead you beside quiet waters where He will restore your soul!! You see, it's upon that restoration..in Surrender to Him that we can say, "Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil"!

Promise: When Jesus is Lord, when King Jesus sits on the throne of your life, the waves disappear, and the storms cannot molest because it's in Him that we rest; Even the wind and the waves obey the Lord!!
Application:  When the problem seems too big, confess to yourself and to your God that it is too big, for you!! Then cry out to Him, "Lord, you are my refuge, save me from drowning and be thou my vision."

Question: When was there a time in your life that you forgot that the word, impossible is not in God's vocabulary??
